History of Computer Operating System

operating system generationThe operating system is a liaison between users of computers with computer hardware. Before operating system, people just use the computer by using analog signals and digital signals. Along with the development of knowledge and technology, at this moment there are a variety of operating systems with the advantages of each. To better understand the operating system then you should have known in advance some basic concepts of the operating system itself. Understanding the general operating system is managing all the resources contained on computer systems and provides a set of services (system calls) to the user, making it easier and freshen up the use and utilization of resources computer system.

Fourth Generation Computers

fourthgeneration Fourth Generation ComputersSeveral vendors announced a “fourth-generation computer” and some who announced “fifth generation computer”. This is just a market strategy. Three previous generations are distinguished by an important breakthrough electronic technology – vacuum tube lights, then the transistor and integrated circuit. The fourth generation came with the development of a less striking, only in the form of computers and software that just a little forward, and this generation of computers may not be as lucky as the previous generation in terms of ‘rule’ the world market before the next new technological breakthrough. This is why some people often refer to this generation as the generation of 3 ½.

Micropocessor

One of the many contributions in the appearance of the next generation computer is microprocessor. Microprocessor contained in a single silicon chip. Mikroprocessor first time demonstrated by Texas Instruments in 1971. The price could be a few dollars and can be found in any of the machines until the satellite.

Third Generation Computers (1964 -?)

thirdgeneration Third Generation Computers (1964 ?) Third Generation Computers

Characteristic
Some historians consider the most important events of the computer history occurred when IBM launched the System 360 computer on April 7, 1964. System 360 includes a computer into the third generation. Integrated circuits are the new technology of this generation as well as transistors in the second generation.

Compatibility problems in the second generation of computers is almost lost in this third-generation computers. However, third-generation computers were entirely different from the second generation. The change is ‘revolutionary’, not ‘evolutionary’, and causes the conversion to large-scale thousands of existing computer.

Second Generation Computers (1959 – 1964)

second generation computer image, computer supportFor most people, the discovery of transistors means more practical. Therefore the data processing business, marks the beginning of second-generation computers. Transistor means more performance, more reliable, and cheaper computers that occupy less space and generate less heat.

Cost should be suppressed. Computer prices during the first generation, second and some third generation is an important part of the budget of a company. Innovation in the race with competition that results in the addition of performance and computer prices decrease greatly.
