Fourth Generation Computers

Several vendors announced a “fourth-generation computer” and some who announced “fifth generation computer”. This is just a market strategy. Three previous generations are distinguished by an important breakthrough electronic technology – vacuum tube lights, then the transistor and integrated circuit. The fourth generation came with the development of a less striking, only in the form of computers and software that just a little forward, and this generation of computers may not be as lucky as the previous generation in terms of ‘rule’ the world market before the next new technological breakthrough. This is why some people often refer to this generation as the generation of 3 ½.
Micropocessor
One of the many contributions in the appearance of the next generation computer is microprocessor. Microprocessor contained in a single silicon chip. Mikroprocessor first time demonstrated by Texas Instruments in 1971. The price could be a few dollars and can be found in any of the machines until the satellite.
Microcomputer
Processing devices that are small, relatively inexpensive, but high performance. Microprocessor ‘contained’ in a computer called microcomputers. While allowing the use of microcomputers in small business and personal. Microcomputer also usually called a personal computer (PC).
Type a PC processor is determined by its (the brain / central processing). The first processors used in PCs is dati INTEL 8086 is used on the computer type XT (eXtended Technology) followed by processor 8088. Next comes the 80,286 processor used on the PC type AT (Advanced Technology). Performance AT? 10 to 15 times faster than the XT, and the speed turbonya? 5 to 9 times the speed of turbo XT. Next comes the Processor 80386SX, 80386DX, 80486SX, 80486DX, … etc.. Untuk lebih jelasnya lihat tabel dibawah ini.
80386SX with 80386DX difference lies only on the data bus width. While different 80486SX with the inclusion of 80486DX math-co and cache memory on the processor.
Pentium name in use since the series was 80,568 first used by AMD with 805×86-P75 series. The difference with the Pentium Pro Pentium limited its access speed only. While the Pentium MMX, Pentium II and Pentium III is the addition of several new instructions are useful in multimedia (MMX / ISSE). Pentium Celeron Pentium II is also, only the amount of cache memory Celeron it is removed / reduced. This is done because the price is very expensive Pentium II cache memory and this reduction can depress the price by half without sacrificing performance.
Application of Computers In Science Fields In fact, many computer applications in various fields, one of which is the field of science through computer simulation.
In essence, the task performed by the simulator is to help scientists in the search for the impossible or difficult to do. One example given by the computer simulation is to solve the puzzle contained a magnetic field on the planet Neptune.
If the planet is liquid, then the electric power generated will rise high. The question: “What happened to the water when affected by pressure and temperature is very high?.”
This all can be answered by a super computer in MaxPlanck Institute in Stuttgart: “The molecules of water can be transformed into the metal molecules in high temperature and pressure which affected large specific magnetic field”. This theory was proposed by Parrinello after experimenting for a whole week. Results of research showed that the atomic structure of water molecules of H2O to make a new connection and change shape to a new atomic structure.
After successfully solving the puzzle in chemistry, is now beginning to think Michelle Parrinello in the direction of biological systems. He wanted to make a helper enzyme to combat the HIV virus. If the project is successful, then the disease will be cured of AIDS. But there is a theory that until now could not be resolved, namely the theory of relativity (Theory of Relativity) is presented by Albert Einstein in 1905. This theory is related to space and time explains the speed of light (speed of light) which allows travel between space and time, and slowing the velocity of time.
Relativity theory was later described the existence of black holes (Black holes) in outer space that can not be penetrated, even by the light though.
Some institutions, both located in Germany and the United States and Italy have been doing work together to create a detector that can solve the biggest riddle of this world.
